- Liza Leger, acrylic on canvas
Liza Cowan's series, FAKE! Paintings by Liza Picasso, Liza Leger, LIza Matisse etc. made its debut in 2004 at Gallery 150 in Burlington,VT, and was the opening show at Pine Street Art Works in 2005.
Based on paintings by modernist masters, this body of work explores the question of where to draw the line between forgery and homage, and between folk and fine art. Most of the work is done as reverse painting on glass, using old window frames.

- Liza Cowan, The Blue Rider
The Blue Rider, named after a German art group that included Wassily Kandinsky, Gabrielle Munter and Franz Marc. This oil on canvas borrows colors from Picasso's 1901 Child with A Dove, a Picasso horse and a character from my own imagination.
